Explore Orcas Island’s Doe Bay
Doe Bay is one of the most beautiful locations on Orcas Island. Enjoy marine wildlife sightings and picturesque views of Cypress Island, Mount Baker, and the Pea Pod Rocks—a national wildlife refuge. Depending on the tides, our tours head either toward Obstruction Island or Point Lawrence. The minimum age to join our tours at this location is 15 years due to potentially strong tidal currents at this location. If you are unsure about your ability to kayak for 2+ hours, please call to ask about the tidal currents on any upcoming date.
Shearwater provides stable two-person kayaks, all necessary kayaking gear, dry storage bags, and professional guide service. Our tours include about 30 minutes of gear adjustment and basic instruction. Expect two and a half hours on the water for this tour. No kayaking experience is required. However, this is a physical activity and all participants should be prepared to paddle for 2+ hours. Our tours at Doe Bay launch from a rocky beach, so sturdy footwear that can get wet is required (sport sandals, water shoes, old sneakers, etc).
Please note that we are guests on Doe Bay Resort’s property. You are welcome at the Doe Bay Store & Café, but do not explore the resort grounds without making arrangements with the resort.
