Explore the North Shore and Point Doughty

Near Eastsound Village, Brandt’s Landing is located on the north shore of Orcas Island. Our small group tours paddle to Point Doughty, where we commonly see seals, sea stars, bald eagles, and harbor porpoise. Views into the Canadian Gulf Islands add to the experience. 

Shearwater provides stable two-person kayaks, all necessary kayaking gear, dry storage bags, and professional guide service. Our tours include about 30 minutes of gear adjustment and basic instruction. Expect two and a half hours on the water for this tour. At Brandt’s Landing we launch from a beach so secure sport sandals or water shoes are best for footwear.

No kayaking experience is required. However, this is a physical activity and all participants should be prepared to paddle for 2+ hours. 

All minor participants must paddle with an adult. The minimum age requirement for this location is 13 years. 

Family Tours are offered by request when space is available at our Deer Harbor location. These are similar to our standard 3-hour tours, but we don’t expect to go as far or as fast. If you have children under 13 years old, call to book.

Minimum age: 13 years
Maximum weight: 260 lbs /person; our kayak openings are 35″ x 17″
Maximum height: 6’4″

Meeting Location: Brandt’s Landing Marina. Meet our guide at the car gate, even if the gate is open. 

Cancellations:  You want to go kayaking. We want to take you kayaking. We understand plans sometimes change. Cancellations more than 48 hours in advance of a standard, scheduled tour are fully refunded (more than 5 days in advance for groups of 5+; private and custom tours have a separate policy). Late cancellations or changes, late arrivals, and no-shows are refunded only if we are able to fill the tour.
